Recreate Kylie Jenner's Shimmery Eye Makeup and Statement Pout from the AMAs
All burgundy everything---save for those mermaid-esque highlights, of course. Last night at the 2014 American Music Awards, Kylie Jenner proved that the matchy-matchy route isn't always a fashion faux pas by pairing the deep wine hue of her Alexandre Vauthier gown to her lengthy nails and matte power pout. Jenner's sultry makeup look is as wearable on the red carpet as it is in real life, namely for those upcoming holiday parties, so we got the step-by-step breakdown straight from the pro so you could try your hand at the effect!
"To complement Kylie's sexy burgundy dress, we decided to play up both the eyes and lips for a come-hither look," says the star's makeup artist Rob Scheppy. He began by contouring Jenner's lids with Eyeko's Me & My Shadow in Chocolate ($19; sephora.com), and blended the tawny brown hue into her crease with the dual-sided brush to add dimension. After a few pumps of the lash curler, he added a layer of Eyeko Black Magic Mascara ($24; sephora.com) before picking up a set of faux lashes.
Scheppy used a full row of the corner strips from Eyeko's Lash Wardrobe ($22; sephora.com), then added another coat of mascara to blend Kylie's natural lashes with her falsies. To frame his handiwork, the pro filled in her brows with Eyeko's Brow Liner ($19; sephora.com), then groomed everything into place with a few sweeps of the Brow Gel ($24; sephora.com). As for Jenner's trademark pucker? Scheppy applied an even layer of Elizabeth Arden's 8-Hour Cream Balm ($23; elizabetharden.com) to keep her lips hydrated, then completely filled in her pout with MAC's Lip Pencil in Burgundy ($16; maccosmetics.com). To mirror Jenner's dramatic effect, trace slightly outside the perimeter of your natural lips to impart a more voluminous shape, then add a final sweep of balm to give off a subtle shine.
