Today's friendly reminder that none of us are getting any younger is brought to you by Quvenzhané Wallis. The adorable little girl whose unforgettable turn as Hushpuppy in Beasts of the Southern Wild just started eighth grade.

Wallis first made her way into our hearts back in 2013, when she received a best actress Oscar nomination at the ripe old age of 9—the youngest nominee for the honor in Academy Awards history. Now, three years later, she's 12 years old and kicking off her last year of middle school. And like most kids her age, Wallis documented the milestone on social media.

"Back to school!!! #firstday #backtoschool #8th grade," she captioned a photo of herself smiling broadly in her school uniform, which consists of a white button-up, a plaid skirt, and a dark cardigan. Even with braces and at least an additional foot in height, she's still got the same sparkle in her eye.

Wallis, who still regularly cuts her acting chops, most recently starred in Beyoncé's visual album, Lemonade.
