So, Queen Elizabeth Had Surgery Around the Same Time as the Royal Wedding
Was Queen Elizabeth able to see Prince Harry wed Meghan Markle exchange vows in crystal clear fashion? According to Buckingham Palace, Her Royal Highness underwent cataract surgery at some point in May, meaning she must have had slight vision issues around the time of the royal wedding.
“I can confirm that The Queen successfully underwent a short, planned procedure to treat a cataract last month,” a palace spokesperson said. Cataracts occur often, and patients usually turn to an ophthalmologist to prevent blurry vision and any sort of glare. It sounds like the surgery was no big deal, and we’re sure the palace managed to make sure the queen had a prime view of her grandson and his new wife.

But this finally explains that real question we’ve all been wondering: why is Queen Elizabeth so into sunglasses lately? Maybe she wanted to keep up with the cool kids? Nah, the reason is likely because of her recovery. Notably, she wasn’t wearing any hater-blockers to the royal wedding, but she has continued to do so through the month of June—and we dig it.
