Queen Elizabeth Gives a Rare Interview to Talk About Her Coronation 65 Years Ago

Queen Elizabeth II has been the British monarch for 65 years now, so it's strange to think that at one point she was brand new to her role. But back when she first came into power in 1953, she was only 25 years old and now, six decades later, she's publicly taking time to reflect on the experience.

The royal gave an extremely rare interview as part of the one-hour BBC and Australian Broadcasting Corporation documentary called The Coronation, in which she discusses the moment when she became Queen of England.

Interestingly, the queen's own coronation isn't the only subject of her interview. When Queen Elizabeth was 11 years old, she watched her father, King George VI, be crowned.

"I've seen one coronation, and been the recipient in the other, which is pretty remarkable," she said.

While the full documentary isn't out quite yet, it promises to also tell the story of the Crown Jewels that are part of the ceremony.

As E! News reports, the queen has never given an official press interview since she ascended the throne, but this documentary chat with coronation expert Alastair Bruce comes pretty close if you ask us.
