Queen Elizabeth Isn't a Fan of Meghan Markle's Style
Though Meghan Markle and Queen Elizabeth are undoubtedly best buds (see them giggling conspiratorially below), it appears the 92-year-old monarch isn’t a huge fan of the Duchess of Sussex’s wildly popular fashion sense.
According to the Daily Mail’s Mail on Sunday, the Queen was shocked that Markle, a divorcee, chose “such a white dress” for her wedding to Prince Harry — but the sartorial surprises didn’t end there.
Meghan loves to defy royal style protocol, as evidenced by her affinity for non-British designers, thigh-high slits and high hemlines, and wearing black on non-mourning occasions.
“Meghan is being told she needs to start dressing less like a Hollywood star and more like a Royal,” a fashion team source within Kensington Palace shared.
Another point of sartorial contention? All those hats. Meghan, whose gorgeous head of hair should not (in my humble opinion) be oppressed by an attention-hungry accessory, reportedly ruffled feathers when she failed to wear a headpiece on her visit to Cheshire alongside the Queen. Apparently, Queen E’s aides told Markle HRH would be wearing a hat, which is a non-confrontational (and pretty confusing) way of telling the duchess she should do the same.
Meghan’s “rebellious spirit” reportedly has the Queen raising her eyebrows, which we’re picturing precisely like this:
