Proof That Bella Thorne Isn't Afraid of Getting a Little Muddy
Actress Bella Thorne might be used to getting glam for the red carpet, but she certainly isn't afraid to get a little dirt under those manicured nails. "Growing up, I would often go camping and mudding with my family," the star told InStyle. "We would hop into Jeeps that didn't have any doors and mud would go everywhere!" These days, Thorne prefers a hike in the park with her sister to get a fresh air fix ("it's where we talk about boys and gossip!"), but the great outdoors are still an important part of her life as a new ambassador for the National Park Service.
The group's latest campaign, Find Your Park, encourages people to embrace their surroundings. "We spend so much time on our phones, on Instagram, and Snapchat, it's important to remember that we have beautifully places around us," says Thorne, who helped kicked off the initiative, which is also co-chaired by First Lady Michelle Obama and former First Lady Laura Bush, in New York City's Madison Square Park.
It is actually surprising that the busy star can still catch some outdoor R&R with her busy schedule. Most recently, she was cast in the lead role for a new ABC Family show, Famous In Love, based on the novel by Rebecca Serle and produced by Pretty Little Liars showrunner Marlene King. "I can relate to my character because she is plucked from obscurity to be in the next Twilight-like movie franchise and she has to balance love, fame, and the paparazzi," Thorne says. "This show will really take you inside what that feels like."
And while celeb life might have it's downsides, Thorne still appreciate the fun perks. "It is so cool when actors that I'm obsessed with know who I am!" she says. "I love Christian Bale and he came up to me once and said, 'Hey, it's Bella Thorne from Shake It Up!' It was the coolest moment ever."PHOTOS: Bella Thorne's 13 Favorite Red Carpet Looks
