Pregnant Cardi B's Coachella Performance Was Just as Over-the-Top as You'd Expect

Cardi B is on a roll.

The rapper’s debut album Invasion of Privacy continues to top the charts, and she recently confirmed that she is in fact pregnant and expecting with rapper and fiancé Offset. On Sunday, she brought the house down once more, this time at Coachella, where she hit the stage for one badass performance.

The former Love and Hip Hop star opened her set in a white TLC-inspired Alejandro look that was comprised of high-waist pants with sheer paneling down each leg and a mesh-covered bustier. She wore her dark locks in retro pigtails and accessorized with a gold chain-link choker.

Like Queen Bey the night prior, Cardi brought out special guests galore, including YG, G-Eazy, Chance The Rapper, Kehlani and 21 Savage.

In typical Cardi B fashion, the rapper didn't let her baby bump stand in the way of an incredible performance. The 25-year-old got into the groove, even twerking for the music festival attendees. "I'm running out of breath," she told the audience at one point, joking, "you know, my pregnant ass."

So just how much did this production cost? In an interview with SiriusXM’s Shade 45, Cardi revealed she had to dish out quite the lump sum of cash to make her show happen. “I have to invest so much money on my stage set, my own money,” she said. “It’s crazy. Almost 300 thou. It’s an investment.”

Interestingly, we also learned that Cardi in fact lost money from her performance. She revealed she got paid $70,000 for each performance, which adds up to $140,000, not the nearly $300,000 she spent on her stage. She said she didn’t realize Coachella was “such a big deal,” and that the price was negotiated before she became the superstar she is now.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Cardi’s live performance has made a splash. Most memorably, she took the stage at Saturday Night Live earlier this month not only to give fans another taste of her hits, but also to appear before the cameras in a body-hugging white Christian Siriano dress that indeed confirmed her pregnancy.

Cardi will once again take the Coachella stage during the festival’s second weekend on Sunday, April 22.
