What happens when you combine Japanese anime with a video game? You get Pharrell’s music video for his new single “It Girl” off his album G I R L.

The artist and new The Voice coach, visited the Today show this morning to debut a clip of the video, and now we’re taking a closer look at the colorful accompaniment to his breezy song. In the video, we see Pharrell reimagined in several different forms, including an anime character and an outlined sketch—signature hat always included—as he charms his cartoon "It Girl" by buying her virtual clothes and accessories. Overall, the video, which flashes from anime to kaleidoscopes to Mario-inspired video game shots, is a colorful and fun ride, just like the groovy tune.
