Phew, 2018 is almost over. Whether you had the Best Year Ever or you're barely keeping your head above water (feel that), we can all agree that we earned a fresh, clean start for 2019.

Thankfully, Pantone's annual Color of the Year has been unveiled, and it's here to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. No, seriously, that's what "Living Coral" — the official Pantone color of 2019 — is all about.

"Living Coral embraces us with warmth and nourishment to provide comfort and buoyancy in our continually shifting environment," reads a release from the company, which describes the hue color as "an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge."

"In reaction to the onslaught of digital technology and social media increasingly embedding into daily life, we are seeking authentic and immersive experiences that enable connection and intimacy," the release continues. Apparently, the vibrant hue seeks to encourage "lighthearted activity," which we'll choose to interpret as sipping rosé on a beach somewhere near the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

2019's hue — all authenticity and warmth — is a bit of a 180 from the regal Ultra Violet of 2018, which was billed as provocative and impassioned. If Pantone is suggesting that we maybe take it a little bit easier this year (and/or "take a tropical vacation"), then we're more than happy to oblige.
