I’ve been trying to figure out a way to write about HOKAs for a while. I first found out about the sneakers three years ago after being diagnosed with the beyond-sexy-sounding Morton’s neuroma (a painful tissue-nerve thing) and researching shoes that wouldn't aggravate it. The brand has been my go-to for running shoes ever since—specially its Clifton style—but they are, let’s just say, a little much on the eyes for me. Performance-wise, however, they’re fantastic—the cushiony sole makes for a plush, buoyant, and beyond smooth “ride,” as the lingo goes.
Now, in a fashion-friendly twist, the company has partnered with purveyor of minimalist-cool athletic wear Outdoor Voices on three pared-back color ways of the Clifton 4 that are pretty damn cute—like, wear-outside-the-gym cute (and right in line with the chunky sneaker trend). Choose from a light green, striking navy, or barely-there blush. And at $140, the price point is nothing to sweat over (hello, exercise pun).
