Oprah Wore a Blake Lively-Approved Velvet Suit While Campaigning in Georgia
Is Oprah taking style cues from actress and self-styled fashion icon Blake Lively?
On Wednesday, the 64-year-old wore a velvet green suit as she hit the campaign trail in Georgia to support Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Stacey Abrams, who has a shot at becoming the first black female governor in the country.
We couldn’t help but notice how similar Winfrey’s ensemble looked to the blue velvet suit that Lively wore for her pantsuit-heavy A Simple Favor press tour. Unlike Lively, who opted for the look sans shirt, the media mogul went the more conservative route paring her suit with a Tory Burch “vote” shirt ($68).
Winfrey’s t-shirt is a limited-edition design by Tory Burch aimed at encouraging voter participation in the midterm elections. All proceeds go to actress Yara Shahidi’s voter initiative Eighteen x 18, which is focused on the next generation of voters. We think it’s great to see that the self-made billionaire is using more than her just her voice and influence to inspire people to get out to the polls, but also her fashion.
Despite how presidential she looks on the campaign trail, don’t expect Oprah to throw her name in the ring for the 2020 presidential election. The icon made it very clear, as she has before, that she has no plans of running for president, as per People’s report.
“I want to make it very clear to all of the press, everybody, I am not here because I am making some grandstand because I am thinking about running myself,” she said. “I don’t want to run. I am not trying to test any water, don’t want to go in those waters.”
