Big news for One Direction heartthrob, Harry Styles. Billboard reports that the 22-year-old singer has signed a solo recording contract with Columbia Records—the same label behind One Direction.

The details on terms and timeline of Styles's new deal have yet be announced but, according to Billboard, the first hints of a Styles solo career came last December, when four of his original songs were registered with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. Talk among fans that Styles was looking to follow in former band member Zayn Malik's footsteps reached its peak shortly after 1D announced last year that the group would go on a hiatus.

Since then, the British crooner has been busy trying his hand at Hollywood by starring alongside Tom Hardy in Christopher Nolan's upcoming WWII drama, Dunkirk.

Styles became a household name shortly after One Direction was born out of popular British talent show, The X Factor, in 2010. Record-breaking album sales and a whirlwind romance with Taylor Swift further solidified his meteoric rise to fame. Here's to Styles's new direction—though we're holding out hope that the boy banders reunite sooner rather than later.
