As a former Miss Universe, Olivia Culpo knows how to work her angles for a photo. Just a quick scroll through her Instagram is evidence of her special talent in finding the best position to highlighting her sculpted jawline, perfect pout, and cute outfit to boot.
So when we caught up with the star last weekend at Rachel Zoe and The Zoe Report's fourth annual Coachella soiree at The Parker Hotel in Palm Springs, she gave us the scoop on how to make sure our photos are angled just right. Her simple secret may surprise you. Culpo told us that she actually practices every pose in the mirror before the cameras are on.
"I would definitely recommend always posing in the mirror before you have a special event or before you know you're going to be taking pictures on a vacation in a bikini," Culpo said. "Figure out what you're comfortable with because it really is trial and error, but we all can do it. And you're not going to know your angles unless you try and figure out what works and what doesn't."

Trial and error! Seems simple, right? After practicing your angles in front of a mirror to make sure your muscle memory's got you covered, step two is looking for good lighting, Culpo said. "If you don't have beautiful light, then no picture's gonna look good, so you can't always take it personally when you look at a picture and it's not what you thought you looked like." Yes, it happens to Culpo too. "Finding the right light is very important."
Now you're all set for that next big party.
