Nothing Basic About This! Sarah Hyland Steps Out in a Winning Trifecta of Street-Chic Looks

Not unlike Modern Family’s Emmy Award–winning streak, Sarah Hyland has racked up a few hits herself, sartorially speaking (proof: her stunning Christian Siriano crop top and full ball gown skirt from this year's Emmys and her emerald lace CH Carolina Herrera gown from last year's awards). "I look younger than my age," the starlet readily tells InStyle when the topic of her red-carpet style comes up. "Take Jennifer Lawrence—we're the same age, but because of how young I look, we have to come up with things that are fresh and fun, but at the same time, age-appropriate."

She may have been talking about dressing for award shows, but judging from her recent crop of out-and-about looks, it's clear that her fashion philosophy has translated from on the red carpet to off. Yesterday, the star stepped out in a trio of on-point ensembles, starting her day off with an appearance on Good Morning America in a sheer white DKNY polka-dot top and caramel-tan Issa wide-leg trousers, complete with a playfully woven Alice + Olivia cocoon coat (casually draped over her shoulders), a ladylike Dior purse, and Rebecca Minkoff platform sandals (above, left).

Keeping the coat, Hyland swapped out her separates for a pretty pink-and-red floral sheath that she styled with red Aldo ankle-strap sandals (right). And for her third street style look, she ditched the coat and selected an ivory Paper London raffia crop top paired with pale python embossed leather DVF flared skirt, and Alice + Olivia camel ankle-strap pumps (center).

"I'm a basic b---!" Hyland triumphantly (and unapologetically) declares after the conversation turns to the discussion of everyone's new mean-girl insult. "Everyone is—we're all basic. All I really need is a T-shirt, jeans, shoes ... and maybe a watch and ring." Sarah, don't take offense, but your winning trifecta of street-chic looks prove otherwise.
