The wait is almost over -- Proenza Schouler's collaboration with MAC lands in stores next week. For the label's first-ever makeup collaboration, designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez referenced their S/S 2010 collection in particular to create the bold color spectrum and trendy ombre packaging. "We were really inspired by a surfer attitude and the '90s," designer Jack McCollough tells InStyle exclusively. "We play with different colors and textures with our clothing, and we wanted to do the same thing with our makeup." And judging by their impressive 15-piece lineup, we'd say they succeeded. We're obsessed with how versatile each product is, not to mention the bold colors that last for hours. "Our girl isn't too precious, and she's a bit undone. She probably doesn't reapply her makeup multiple times a day, so long-wearing formulas were important to us," says Hernandez. "We see her applying the eyeliner on the upper and lower lash lines, and smudging it with her finger."

The designers confessed that it was hard for them to choose a favorite from the lineup -- and understandably so, since they had worked on the line for so long -- but admitted the lipsticks and ombre blushes ranked among the top standout items. "I really love the gesture of a highly-pigmented red lip. It can make an entire look. The Mangrove shade has a bit more orange than a true red, so I'm really drawn to it," Hernandez adds. "Also, the Sunset Beach powder blush is just so pretty. We've worked a lot with tie-dye in our clothing, and I loved how we were able to translate it into this blush." A piece from the label's runway may set you back a few thousand dollars, but priced from $18 to $39, their MAC collection is much easier on the wallet, so you can afford to stock up. The collection hits maccosmetics.com on April 21, and will roll out to MAC counters and stores nationwide on April 24!
