Naomi Watts Was "All About Ruffles” at the Demolition Screening in N.Y.C.
It is only the third day of spring, but it looks like Naomi Watts has already found her favorite seasonal trend. “It's all about ruffles right now,” the actress told InStyle at a special screening of Demolition Monday night at New York City's SVA Theatre.
Dressed in a gossamer Valentino gown with black piping, Watts balanced the feminine tiers with a studded Valentino clutch and blackened white gold and diamond jewelry by Solange Azagury-Partridge. "I wasn't sure if I wanted to wear something long tonight, but I think the look feels cool and not too serious,” she says.
According to Watts's stylist Jeanann Williams, the star has had her eye on this particular dress for a few months. "We first picked this for the SAG Awards in January. And even though we ended up going with a Burberry gown, this look still stayed top of mind,” says Williams. “We are loving everything ruffled for spring and this was perfect because the sea foam color matches her eyes.”
After the screening, which drew a diverse crowd that included everyone from Nat Wolff to Clive Davis, Watts hit up the after-party at the Top of the Standard with co-star Jake Gyllenhaal. “The best part about working with Jake is that he is open to anything in a scene,” says Watts, who plays a customer service rep that helps Gyllenhaal's character come to terms with his wife's sudden death. "Both Jake and director Jean-Marc Vallée come to set with a plan, but they are also open to shaking things up.”
