Celebrity Naomi Campbell Dazzles as She's Honored at amfAR's Seventh Annual Inspiration Gala in New York By Cristina Gibson Updated on June 10, 2016 @ 11:30AM Pin Share Tweet Email Photo: Kevin Tachman/Getty It was Naomi Campbell’s night at the seventh annual amfAR Inspiration Gala Wednesday in New York’s Skylight at Moynihan Station, where the supermodel was deservedly honored with the Award of Inspiration. Although the annual event for AIDS research and HIV prevention featured a performance from Jason Derulo and a men’s runway fashion show, honorary chair Dwyane Wade and wife Gabrielle Union (below) were just excited to see Campbell strut her stuff in the flesh. Campbell wore a navy and black dress with sheer panels to show off her famous legs. “I loved watching Naomi Campbell get out of the car,” Union, in an intricate Prada gown with a train, raved to InStyle on the red carpet. “I could have just gone back home because that was a vision! Just watching her walk down the street is like America’s catwalk.” While Union and Wade turned the evening into date night, Kelly Osbourne opted to bring along her Pomeranian pup Polly as her plus one for the black-tie soiree, which featured Whoopi Goldberg as master of ceremonies. Michael Stewart/WireImage Designer Zac Posen (below) was also on hand to support his longtime “best girlfriend,” who he first met when his career was just beginning. “I was about 18 in London and that was the beginning of an incredible, very loyal, supportive, collaborative friendship,” he told us. “She came into my basement apartment. She had her NC bag. She had a book about her and Mandela, and her perfume in it, and handed me some pounds and cash to go buy my fabric, and that really helped launched my career.” Jamie McCarthy/Getty J.Lo Wows in a Demure Head-to-Toe Salmon Pink Look Karrueche Tran, wearing a gold vintage Gucci dress with a plunging neckline, had a very personal connection to the cause. “My father is bisexual and he has HIV, so being at an event like this hits close to home,” she explained to InStyle. “It’s very important because that’s something he’s part of and growing up, he’s always been very diverse and well-cultured, and well-rounded, and that’s helped me just be accepting of people of who they are, regardless of your sexuality, color, race, or anything like that.” Nicholas Hunt/Getty See Jessica Alba's 25 Favorite Things Inside the gala, Zayn Malik presented an award to fellow Award of Inspiration honoree Kim Jones as guests toasted and clinked their glasses of Champagne. “Thank you so much for this award,” Naomi told the fashionable crowd during her acceptance speech. “There is a long way to go. And let’s remember there’s still not a cure.”
