At the launch of the CHOO.08 line in Los Angeles, the star complemented her structured Kaufmanfranco number with evil eye-inspired nail art. In addition to its ability to keep bad luck at bay, we also love how it serves as a minimalist take on the intricate mani trend, so we got the step-by step instructions from Rossum's manicurist Katie Jane Hughes so you can nail the effect. To start, Hughes applied a layer of Butter London's Nail Foundation ($17; butterlondon.com), and followed by painting a white half-moon along the star's cuticle using Butter London's Cotton Buds hue ($15; butterlondon.com). The rest of the nail was left nude to create the illusion of a floating effect. Courtesy (3), Time Inc Digital Studio Picking up the periwinkle lacquer in Sprog ($15; butterlondon.com), Hughes applied a blue dot in the center of each half-moon, then used the same method to apply a smaller black dot in the center with the Union Jack Black shade ($15; butterlondon.com). If you're trying out the effect at home, we recommend using either a dotting tool or a toothpick to place the dot. Once the pattern has completely dried, follow with a generous layer of your favorite top coat to keep the design in place. Click through our gallery to see the 14 hottest spring nail colors!
