Phillip Lim, the designer behind his eponymous line 3.1 Phillip Lim, never fails to deliver coveted pieces that embody the "cool-girl" aesthetic we all hope to achieve with each passing season. Remember his Target collaboration? His bags sold out in minutes. With New York Fashion Week fall/winter 2015 shows rapidly approaching, we got up close and personal with the designer, and had him answer a quick and intimate survey of questions that delve into his new collection (no spoilers, promise) and his personal life—that takes all of 10 seconds to read. We timed it.

What word describes your fall/winter 2015 collection? Challenging.

What are you listening to right now? All kinds of music—I like to change throughout the day. Right now it's: "Queen and Wonder" by Federico Albanese

Where did you go in preparation for your fall/winter 2015 collection? Unfortunately, I didn’t get to go anywhere. I looked up and around and took inspiration from the present.

The last drink I had was ... A very dirty martini.

What job would you be doing if you were not a fashion designer? I would like to be selling something on a beach somewhere or tending to a beautiful garden—making a hobby my work is the ultimate dream.

Where would you go first in N.Y.C. if you were a tourist? Central Park, of course!

What is your favorite work of art? I have so many—I have a Joan Mitchell painting that sums up my mood on so many days.

Who's your favorite superhero? Batman.

What's the first thing you do in the morning? Look out of the window to assess the day.

Who did you design your first piece for? My best friend.

What's your favorite quote of all time?
