Moschino Teams Up with Barbie to Create a New Doll and Coordinating Capsule Collection
Life is plastic, it's fantastic!
If you ever thought Barbie was afraid to experiment with one of the fashion world's most daring designers, think again. Moschino has officially teamed up with toy company Mattel to produce a capsule collection of every girl's favorite dolls each dressed in the brand's downtown cool, trendy duds, WWD reports.
"I wanted to bring all of the Moschino elements to Barbie, as I had done the reverse by bringing all of the Barbie elements to Moschino for the spring 2015 collection," creative director Jeremy Scott told WWD. "The thing I love most about Barbie is that she is the ultimate muse, she's worn every style and design imaginable and at the same time she's had every possible profession you can dream of."
So what new closet additions can the miniature entrepreneur look forward to? The collection includes graphic T-shirts that read "The Most Moschino T-Shirt Ever" along with tight leather pencil skirts, mesh tights, chain-strap leather handbags, glitzy, over-the-top gold jewels, ankle-strap pumps, and, of course, a padded black moto jacket.
And while anyone with a deep appreciation for Barbie will fall in love with the pieces, you don't have to be a doll to enjoy them. The eight-piece collection includes IRL versions of the items, like Moschino Barbie T-shirts ($225), handbags ($1,595), as well as the doll itself ($150).
The Moschino Barbie collection will be available Nov. 9 on netaporter.com.
