And that’s a wrap! The finale of The Mindy Project aired last night, and in typical Mindy Lahiri fashion she finished the third season on a style high note. Unlike last season’s finale, where Mindy wore 23 outfits in 22 minutes, costume designer Salvador Perez chose to pair down her final looks. “We went quality over quantity,” he tells InStyle.

Case in point: The luxe light blue Gucci ensemble she wore to start the episode (above). “I never put in her pastels, but it was so sexy,” says Perez. The stretchy fabric skimmed over growing curves seamlessly, perfectly accentuating her baby bump. “It was what a woman who doesn’t want to wear maternity clothes would wear to work.”

Later on in the episode, she continued her non-maternity clothes streak wearing a polka dot dress from BCBG (below). “It was sort of vintage Mindy,” Perez explains. “The first season she wore so many polka dots. I wanted to show that she didn’t go out and buy maternity clothes, she’s just using what’s already in her closet.”

While her polka dots are reminiscent of Mindy’s past looks, there was a big Mindy Project first—she wore a sari (below). “I’ve been trying to get her to wear a sari on the show forever and we though the party at the Indian restaurant was the perfect time,” says Perez, who spent weeks combing through traditional Indian clothing stores in the Los Angeles area to find the perfect one. “It couldn’t look like a costume on her,” he explains, so when he found the bright vivid pink sari with the gold trim, he knew it was perfect.

The sari wasn't the only Mindy Project first, we also saw her repeat an outfit she wore the episode before (below). Mindy loved the Missoni dress she wore in last week's episode so much, she wears it to her surprise baby shower, which was spoiled when Danny revealed he may not want to get married. Where does that leave our favorite on-screen couple? Well, thanks to Danny's big gesture to go to India to meet Mindy's family, we think its all good in their world, but we'll have to wait until next season to find out for sure. Until then!
