Her hair and makeup were flawless, but we were dying to learn more about the award-winning actress's beautiful dress. "It’s Peter Pilotto," Kaling revealed to InStyle while adding, "My dad got this for me. He was just hanging out with me because we were going to go to lunch after and he was like 'Oh, I like this dress,’ and I was like, ‘Dad you have amazing taste. This is Peter Pilotto.’" Kaling continued her hilarious story and confessed, "He didn’t know who it was but he really liked it. After I tried it on I told him I'm going to get it, he was like 'No, I’m going to get it for you.' It was really cool. I have a cool dad." Kaling really is such a lucky girl, because dad definitely chose a fun look for the worthy event. Mindy Project's Costume Designer Says a Mindy-Inspired Pajama Line Is in the Works "There’s so many important charitable organizations and there’s very few that are without any detractors whatsoever, which is March of Dimes. It’s such a worthy and pure cause," Kaling gushed about the do-good platform. "I was especially excited because I’m presenting to Bela Bajaria who is the person who kind of gave me my start and helped me with my show. She has been championing for me for such a long time. So whenever I have an opportunity to support her, I do. I love her." Our June 2015 cover girl also went on to add, "I love the January cover of InStyle. Ariel [Foxman, InStyle's editorial director] put it online yesterday and I was so impressed. She [Viola Davis] looked beautiful. I love seeing Viola, because the characters she plays are so intense that when she’s all fashiony and smiling, I like it. It’s great." -With reporting by Brandi Fowler
