"dont worry I'll always find a way to smile ;)"

Happy birthday to Millie Bobby Brown!

The actress turned 16 on Wednesday (February 19) and celebrated the milestone year by taking to Instagram with a clip of some of the more difficult moments she's had over the years, set to Justin Bieber's "Changes."

Alongside the video, which includes clips of Brown signing autographs, playing gleefully outside with friends, primping in the mirror, and posing for photographs as cameras flash. It's a bittersweet yet look at her time in the spotlight as a young actress, and the way Brown has dealt with fame as she rose to prominence as Eleven in the hit Netflix series Stranger Things.

"ya girls 16 :)," Brown captioned the clip. "16 has felt like a long time coming. i feel like change needs to happen for not only this generation but the next. our world needs kindness and support in order for us children to grow and succeed. the last few years haven't been easy, I'll admit that."

It's clear from some of the moments in Brown's video alone that she's felt intense scrutiny from the media and the world around her. But she's keeping her head up and looking forward, urging fans and followers to remember to "focus on what needs changing."

"there are moments i get frustrated from the inaccuracy, inappropriate comments, sexualization, and unnecessary insults that ultimately have resulted in pain and insecurity for me. but not ever will i be defeated," she continued. "ill continue doing what i love and spreading the message in order to make change. let's focus on what needs changing and I hope this video informs you on the things that go on behind the scenes of the headlines and flashing lights. dont worry I'll always find a way to smile ;) leggo 16 ♡."

Brown's clip attracted dozens of supportive comments wishing her a happy birthday and addressing some of her concerns raised in the clip. While it appears she's taking a positive outlook toward the issues that can arise from being in the public eye from a young age, there's no denying the lifestyle certainly isn't for everyone. Luckily, as the young actress reminds us, she's "always find a way to smile."
