2016 is getting off to quite the start for Miley Cyrus! Only a few days after the news broke that her engagement to Liam Hemsworth was back on, the controversial pop star revealed that she was headed back to television. This time Cyrus will have a starring role in Woody Allen's upcoming Amazon series.

Deadline reports that the singer-actress, 23, and Hollywood veteran Elaine May act star alongside Allen in the miniseries, made up of six half-hour episodes, and the story will take place in the 1960s. Little else is known about the project, other than the fact that Allen will write and direct each episode.

The "Wrecking Ball" singer is understandably excited about the new project, and on Monday took to Instagram to confirm the news.

"Stoked to be in Woody Allens first series!!!!!" Cyrus wrote alongside a photo of the portrait of Allen that hangs in her bedroom.

"I had claimed 2016 to be my year of 'chillin the f— out' but next to my bed for a few years now has been this portrait of W.A. & I was looking into his eyes when I got the call to be apart of the cast and work alongside the bad a$$ Elaine May & da dude himself! 1960zzzz here I cummmmm."
