Update: Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and Jennifer Lopez are just a few of the big names announced to join Michelle Obama's virtual graduation ceremony. Variety reports that the trio join the previously released lineup, which includes BTS and Barack Obama.

Beyoncé is set to give an "inspirational message," while Lopez and Swift will be making special appearances. They're not on the list of performers, but fans may be in for a surprise. Musicians Lizzo, Maluma, and Camila Cabello are scheduled to perform before the virtual cap toss and YouTube's special grad night party, which will be headlined by BTS. The special concert will also feature CNCO, Doja Cat, and Megan Thee Stallion.

In a crossover you never knew you needed, Michelle Obama is recruiting K-Pop band BTS to help her host a virtual graduation ceremony for the class of 2020.

In a post on Instagram, the former first lady announced an online event called "Dear Class of 2020," a ceremony she hopes will lift the spirits of 2020 graduates who are going without a ceremony this year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

"To the #Classof2020, I know how hard you all have worked to make it to graduation," she wrote. "And I know that none of you imagined you would be closing this chapter of your life through a computer or phone screen. But I still want to make sure you still get the celebration you deserve."

The event, which will take place on June 6 at 12 p.m. PST, will feature some very special commencement speakers — Barack Obama (of course), BTS, and Lady Gaga among them — with some special appearances by Zendaya, Kerry Washington, and Alicia Keys.

Obama herself will also be a commencement speaker, and invited graduates to RSVP via the link in her post, and to tune in on YouTube when the day comes. Other guests also include Malala Yousafzai, Condoleeza Rice, and Kelly Rowland.

With COVID-19 concerns upending many graduation ceremonies, the Obamas (as well as Oprah and John Krasinski) have stepped up to make the milestone more momentous for students around the world.

We don't know about you, but a team-up between the Obamas, BTS, and Lady Gaga seems like a pretty good consolation prize for missing out on graduation.
