Celebrity Michelle Obama Lights Up the Phoenix Awards Dinner in a Monochromatic Gown By Mari Kasanuki Published on September 29, 2014 @ 10:10AM Pin Share Tweet Email Photo: Olivier Douliery-Pool/Getty Images Here is all the proof you need that you can wear white after Labor Day! Michelle Obama looked positively statuesque in a white-hot Bibhu Mohapatra gown at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's 44th Annual Legislative Conference Phoenix Awards Dinner on Saturday. The dress featured a halter-style neck and asymmetrical black stripe accents on the bodice's front and a black trim at the waist. Obama accessorized the outfit with dangling earrings and styled her hair in loose curls for the Washington, D.C., event, where President Barack Obama delivered the keynote speech. Michelle Obama is obviously a big fan of Mohapatra: Not only has she worn his designs before but the Indian-born and New York-based designer has also been invited to the White House's first fashion workshop on Oct. 8. With the First Lady hosting the event, it's no wonder that she is stepping up her style. We'll have to keep an even closer eye on her fashion choices as the event draws near!
