Over the years as First Lady, Michelle Obama has certainly stunned us more than once with her fashion choices. But she really outdid herself at the China State Dinner at the White House last night (Friday, Sept. 25). Clad in a black, dramatic, sweeping Vera Wang gown, Obama was the epitome of grace and sophistication. The custom off-the-shoulder gown (a right on-trend silhouette if you look at the recent runways) with V-notch neckline was crafted of silk crepe and featured a mermaid hem. President Obama didn't look so shabby himself—he was elegant in a classic tuxedo.
The glamour didn't end there. The evening, which was titled "Evening of Lobster, Lamb, and Ne-Yo," honored China's President Xi Jinpling and his wife Peng Liyuan. Among the intimate guest list of 200 or so, Phillip Lim made the cut as did Empire's Lee Daniels, ballerina Misty Copeland, and Marc Zuckerberg and his wife Dr. Priscilla Chan.
Naturally, the guests were thrilled to be part of the multi-course dinner and the performance by Ne-Yo, and showed their enthusiasm on Instagram. How sweet is Daniels with his gorgeous mom dressed in red Carolina Herrera?
