Sookie is back! Melissa McCarthy has delighted Gilmore Girls fans by announcing she will reprise her role in the show's forthcoming revival on Netflix.

McCarthy herself confirmed the news Thursday on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, explaining that after months of negotiating she had found time in her hectic schedule to film scenes as the Dragonfly Inn's chef.

In her "big announcement," McCarthy explained: "It is really exciting. There has been something that I have been asked about so, so many times and it hasn't worked out and there is... they're making four new movies of the Gilmore Girls which is a show, which was near and dear to my heart for four years, and we could not get those schedules to work. And there was a whole thing. And then I was gonna be out of the country and blah, blah, blah. And literally about an hour and half ago we figured out that I'm gonna go back and do it and I am so excited. And they are gonna be amazing.."

McCarthy will be reunited with original producers and creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, as well as stars Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Scott Patterson, Kelly Bishop, Sean Gunn, and Keiko Agena.

The format for the new episodes of the beloved mother-daughter show is expected to be four new 90-minute episodes, with each set in a different season from one year. Filming is scheduled to finish in May, though no release date is confirmed yet. We can't wait. Watch Melissa McCarthy make the exciting announcement on The Ellen Show in the clip below.
