Meghan Markle Is Set to Break Royal Tradition Again—with a Speech at Her Own Wedding

Meghan Markle is not afraid to bend a rule or two when it comes to marrying Prince Harry. The soon-to-be princess has broken protocol in the past, and now she's going against the grain once again. Only this time, it involves a full speech.

According to The Telegraph, Markle is set to give her own speech at her wedding reception that will offer "affectionate" praise of Prince Harry alongside a few jokes and a thank you to Queen Elizabeth.

Markle's dad Thomas Markle is expected to walk his daughter down the aisle, but "may not make a formal speech," the outlet reports. And thus, the bride-to-be is prepared to speak at the reception should he choose to avoid the limelight.

"She wants to have the chance to thank her husband and everyone who has supported them," a source told The Sunday Times. "Harry is fully behind her."

Kensington Palace has yet to comment on this new development, but with Markle's history of giving speeches, it probably won't be that outrageous to expect her to give a powerful presentation. Markle has spoken at a United Nations gathering in the past about feminism and equality, so a public speech is right up the actress's alley.
