Why Meghan Markle Won’t Wear Victoria Beckham Dresses
As the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle basically has her pick of the litter when it comes to fashion. Designers jump at they the opportunity to dress her, mostly because when she wears something, lots and lots of people take notice.
It's quite unfortunate for Victoria Beckham, then, that Markle isn't a huge fan of her dress designs, despite the fact that both Victoria and her husband David Beckham were guests at Meghan's wedding to Prince Harry. Awk.
Harper's Bazaar Australia unearthed a pre-wedding quote from 2017 where Markle explained why she shies away from VB's dresses.
"What I'm starting to learn is, even though things look amazing on the hanger, it doesn't mean they're going to look amazing on me," she told Glamour UK. "For example, I love Victoria Beckham dresses, but I don't have the long torso to support that silhouette."
See, it's not a bad blood thing, it's just a personal preference. There are plenty of alternatives that Markle likes better.
"On a normal day, I love a shift dress with flats and a little cropped jacket," she said. "That for me is my travel wear if it's not too chilly — you can throw a scarf over your legs if it's cold on the plane! On the show [Suits] I wear things that are so body conscious, so it's nice to have things that are a little easier to breathe in. As I've gotten older, I like longer dresses, but my legs come up to my ears and I'm not very tall, so when I wear a short skirt I've got to be really conscious."
Maybe now that Victoria and Meghan have gotten to know each other better, VB can talk Markle into one of her shift dresses, at the very least.
