If there's anything we've learned from obsessively watching the royal family's every move, it's that nothing is done unintentionally when it comes to optics. So when the women of the family piled into a balcony booth in order to pay their respects without Meghan Markle tagging along, it drew some red flags.

The Duchess of Sussex was a little left out of the family festivities during the World War I Remembrance Day Service on Sunday, because while her bud Queen Elizabeth was hanging with Kate Middleton and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Markle was off on her own.

The three British queens of present and future stood together in solidarity to pay their respects as Markle watched from another balcony. The balconies themselves were quite small, so there might just not have been room, but it also seemed that Markle had another job to take care of.

Instead of standing with her in-laws, she watched the event next to Germany's First Lady, President Frank-Walter Steinmeier’s wife Elke Budenbender. That's hardly a consolation job, but rather, one of importance, even if it was away from Queen Elizabeth's side.

Part of the reason Markle got the boot from the main booth could also have to do with royal hierarchy. The same thing happened during Trooping of the Colour over the summer — Kate Middleton and Queen Elizabeth stood front and center, while Markle was tucked behind Kate and Prince William.

“She was not as prominent perhaps as some people might have expected, but there’s a pecking order,” Joe Little, managing editor of Majesty magazine, told People. “There was no slight intended, but William being the older, more senior brother would go out [first] with his wife.”

Looks like the same thing happened once again. At least Markle had company this time.
