This Couple Looks So Much Like Meghan and Harry, It’s Kind of Creepy
It's a pop culture reporter's worst nightmare: Being closed in upon by dozens of Prince Harrys and Meghan Markles.
But what sounds like a fever dream to any writer who has been covering the royal wedding madness for the past 12 years—er, 6 months—is actually just business as usual in London.
While Meghan and Harry have been camera shy, their doppelgängers have been parading around the city, looking just like the prince and his bride-to-be. Of the bunch of lookalikes, Rhys Whittock and Immaculada Santisteban Serrano are two individuals who just won a contest for how much they resemble the future duke and duchess.
Whittock is from the U.K., and says throughout his childhood, his friends and family remarked that he resembled Prince Harry. But unlike Whittock, Serrano doesn’t share a heritage with Markle. While the future royal is American and biracial, Serrano is from Spain.
“To be compared to the bride-to-be is a real honor and I’m flattered that I have been voted as the best double for one of the most famous women in the world,” she said in a press release.
The contest was hosted by easyJet and judged by former royal correspondent Duncan Larcombe. Contestants weren’t just judged on their resemblance to the couple—they also had to show off their royal wave, romantic wedding proposal, and bridal bouquet throw.
Of course, the finalists were flown to London from all over Europe to visit Buckingham Palace and meet (Madame Tussauds’ wax figure versions of) the royal couple. The winning duo was awarded a year’s worth of flights, so maybe they’ll honeymoon like the royals too.
