Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Are Now a Family of Four

First comes love. Then comes marriage. Then comes a dog with a leash and collar. That’s right, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are now a family of four — let’s not forget Meghan’s beloved Beagle, Guy — after adopting an alleged Labrador.

People reports that the newlyweds welcomed the new pup into their lives earlier this summer, and he (or she) has been splitting time between Kensington Palace and Meghan and Harry’s countryside home in the Cotswolds. A spokeswoman at the palace declined to comment on the very important dog news.

Meghan, a known dog lover, had to leave behind her other dog Bogart, a Lab-Shephard mix, in Toronto following her engagement to Harry in November. The rescue pooch (and former companion to Guy) is now staying with a pal in the Canadian city. It was not easy for Meghan to move to the U.K. without her furry friend, but, unfortunately, the trip across the Atlantic would have taken too much of a toll on him.

Believe it or not, Ellen DeGeneres is actually the one who turned Markle into a dog person. “Ellen goes ‘Is that your dog?’ And I said, ‘No,’ and she’s like, ‘You have to take that dog.’ And I said, ‘Well, I’m deciding.’ And she’s like, ‘Rescue the dog!’ ... and so I brought him home!" she said in a past interview with Best Health magazine. "Because Ellen told me to.”

Meghan is not the only canine enthusiast in the royal family. Queen Elizabeth has a brood of her own corgis, and even has a soft spot for the duchess’s Beagle. The day before the royal wedding, she was photographed holding Guy in the backseat of a car.

Looks like the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s new Lab will have some competition when it comes to getting great grandmother’s attention.
