Headline-making talent keeps getting younger and younger!
After an aggressive and painfully cute search across the United States, 7-month-old Isla has been crowned the 2016 Gerber Baby, beating out more than 170,000 hopeful little ones for the prize. The wide-eyed tot is from Troy, Mich., and loves to read, jump, and play peek-a-boo with her parents, Grayson and Rachael, CNN reports.
So what about Isla caught the attention of the baby-loving judges over at Gerber? In the chubby-cheeked darling’s submitted image (above), she not only flashes an ultra wide smile, but also makes direct eye contact with the camera, places her hand on her chin, and flaunts her brown locks with the finesse of a professional model—the perfect mix of qualities Gerber searches for. She also met the age requirement for the contest, which only reviews too-cute snaps of babies as young as 1 day and as old as 48 months.
“We don’t have any immediate plans to get her into modeling, but who knows,” her parents told CNN. While Isla will not be replacing the iconic baby found on Gerber’s packaging, she will be recognized as a “spokesbaby” for the brand. She'll also receive $50,000 in prize money, which her parents will put towards paying off some debts, saving for their kids' future savings (Isla has an older sister, Nora), and charitable causes.
