Today we celebrate birthday boy Matt Damon, the guy-next-door turned Hollywood hero, who has cemented his status as an A-list actor in more ways than one. After almost 30 years in the entertainment biz, Damon has earned critical acclaim as an actor, screenwriter, and producer with numerous prestigious awards and nominations under his belt.
Born 46 years ago, Damon landed his first acting gig at the age of 18 with just a single line of dialogue in the 1988 romantic comedy, Mystic Pizza. From there, it's been full-speed-ahead for Damon who has since starred in the Bourne spy thriller series.
In addition to starring in major motion pictures, Damon's also been recognized for his behind-the-scenes screenwriting work. In 1997, he and actor Ben Affleck received a Golden Globe and an Oscar for their co-written screenplay, Good Will Hunting, for which Damon also received a number of Best Actor nominations. In 2007, Damon was recognized with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star and, that same, year, was even named People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive—a well-deserved award, we might add.
Speaking of Damon's good looks. we can't help but notice how little he has aged since bursting onto the acting scene in the late '80s. Despite juggling multiple projects at once while being a dad to four little girls and attending red carpet events with his wife of nearly 11 years, Luciana Barroso, Damon still has all the charm—and chiseled features—to make him a total Hollywood heartthrob.
