Margot Robbie Had a Major '90s Moment With Her Vintage Gown at the Oscars

Chanel is always a good idea.

Did a red carpet even happen if Margot Robbie isn't on it?

This year, the actress received an Oscar nomination for her performance as fictionalized Fox News staffer Kayla Pospisil in Bombshell. She’s also representing another film that was nominated, Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood.

The Australian actress arrived at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday evening wearing a vintage dark blue Chanel gown from the designer's 1994 Haute Couture collection. The dress, which bore a deep blue pearl-dotted brooch at the neckline, featured an individual sheer train for each arm. Robbie added a pop of color to the ensemble with a bold red lip.

Just two years ago Robbie earned her first-ever nomination for her performance as divisive figure skating star Tonya Harding in I, Tonya.

Robbie took a different approach to her Oscars style in 2018. The Birds of Prey star repped her go-to fashion house on the red carpet in a white Chanel Haute Couture column gown designed by the late Karl Lagerfeld himself.

Though Bombshell itself was not received quite as warmly as those involved had no doubt hoped, both Charlize Theron’s performance and the film’s hair and makeup team are also nominated tonight.
