SPORTS. Tonight at a private event, Marchesa co-founder Georgina Chapman will debut a limited-edition top inspired by the New York Jets football team, a look she created after Suzanne Johnson, wife of Jets owner Woody Johnson, approached Chapman and her Jets-loving husband Harvey Weinstein with the idea. “It's been a year in the making and I can't wait to unveil the Marchesa shirt for the masses, a real fashion-forward statement for female fans that elevates team apparel,” Johnson told InStyle.com. And the pair shared this exclusive first look with InStyle.com! “My design philosophy centers on the dramatic and feminine; beading, embellishments, and lace are an integral part of the Marchesa aesthetic,” Chapman told us. “It was instinctive to approach the Jets piece in the same manner. I am so pleased with the end result and hope fans will wear it with pride.” The top, shown above left, is made with jersey fabric and beaded with Swarovski crystals, and will sell for $110 at jetsshop.com starting tomorrow. (The two other shirts shown are couture versions, not available online.) And if you’re not a Jets fan, Marchesa’s Chapman has more up her sporty, sparkly sleeves—expect designs for the Pittsburgh Steelers, New Orleans Saints, Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs, and Washington Redskins in the near future. UPDATE: See the shirts below! Georgina Chapman models the couture look, while the model paired her Jets look with a dramatic skirt.
