Malia Obama has decided on a college! After graduating from high school this spring, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama's 17-year-old daughter plans to take a gap year and then attend Harvard University in fall of 2017.

The White House said in a statement Sunday: “The president and Mrs. Obama announced today that their daughter Malia will attend Harvard University in the fall of 2017 as a member of the class of 2021. Malia will take a gap year before beginning school.”

The stylish teen considered many elite schools in her college search, from Ivy League institutions including Yale and Brown to West Coast names like Stanford and the University of California, Berkeley. Ultimately, she passed on her parents' undergraduate alma maters—Mom attended Princeton while Dad went to Columbia—but settled on the university where both earned law degrees: Harvard.

We’re so happy for Malia and the First Family during this exciting (and nerve-wracking!) time. But before heading off to the big leagues, she has to get through graduation from Sidwell Friends School first—and the president expects to be a total waterworks. Not even the First Daughter is immune to having an embarrassing dad.
