Madonna’s 1991 documentary, Madonna: Truth or Dare, is still arguably one of the most raw and equally glamorous depictions of pop stardom to date. Who can forget the endless cameos (think Lionel Richie, Warren Beatty, Al Pacino, and John Paul Gaultier, to name a few) she included as cameras followed her along the 57-show Blond Ambition World Tour?
So how beloved is the film? On Wednesday in Manhattan, 400 fans gathered inside the Museum of Modern Art for a screening of the flick in celebration of its 25th anniversary. And while scenes of the pop queen blaring “Like a Virgin” and “Vogue” are enough to garner excitement, the 58-year-old arrived to surprise her loyal followers.
“She came out to support Alek Keshishian, her longtime friend and director of the celebrated documentary,” a source told People. For the appearance, Madonna rocked a bright red off-the-shoulder dress and loose waves as fans whipped out their phones to catch a glimpse of the iconic star.
Talk about coming full circle.
