Lola speaks! Just in time to promote the line she co-designed with her mom, Madonna, thirteen-year-old Lourdes Leon has launched her own blog at "Helluuur thurrrr," she begins in her introductory post before going on to announce that she's looking forward to her upcoming fourteenth birthday because "I am FINALLY allowed to dye my hair!" She's also careful to plug the 1980s-influenced collection: "And the 80's are another huge obsession of mine, which is totally amazingly awesome because of Material Girl . . . HELLO!" She finished her first blog entry by offering some fairly tough fashion advice: "OK but no joke, gladiator sandals are OUT. They've been around for three years people COME ON!!!!"

Madonna also spoke out about the collection yesterday, telling WWD that "it's not complicated. It's dressing in layers. It's not looking like you took too much time thinking about what you're wearing." We posted the sketches and have since learned that the line will include rose-print dresses, skinny denim, combat-boots and special “wow” pieces like studded leather jacket and a crinoline-lined bustier dress. One remaining mystery: Who will be the face of Material Girl? The teen star is said to embody the collection's spirit, which makes me want to guess actress/model/rocker Taylor Momsen, but we won't find out until Material Girl is unveiled at Macy's on August 3rd. Check out Madonna's behind-the-scenes video and more photos from the collection in the gallery below now!
