See Lorde as You've Never Seen Her Before, in Disclosure's New Music Video for "Magnets"
Lorde has teamed up with British dance music team Disclosure (brothers Howard and Guy Lawrence) to create a moody mini-film noir music video for their new song, "Magnets," a track from the duo's second album, Caracal.
In the new video, Lorde portrays a groomed siren who forms a steamy attachment to a handsome Christian Grey-type at a party in his spectacular Hollywood Hills home. However, it turns out he's married. His wife's tight ponytail and buttoned-up blouse suggest a woman very unlike the luxuriant, free-spirited Lorde, who sings, "Pretty girls don't know the things that I know. Walk my way, I'll share the things that she won't."
But this is no Fatal Attraction–like story of an obsessed single woman who wants to dispose of her lover's family. Instead, after the wife appears with a black eye, Lorde—ready to rumble in a black vinyl trenchcoat and dark red lipstick—exacts a dramatic revenge on the cheating husband, on his wife's behalf.
"I'm super proud of this one," Lorde wrote on her Tumblr blog. "In my head it's dark electric blues and greens, and it moves like liquid. Hope you like it." Watch the new music video for "Magnets" here:
