In our current age of selfies and Instagram, being ready for your close-up is more crucial than ever -- an art already perfected by Maria Menounos. Even when she isn't hosting Extra or starring in her new reality show Chasing Maria Menounos, her hair and makeup always seems to be on-point, which is why we asked her to spill her behind-the-scenes secrets when we spoke to her at the launch of Suave's Natural Infusion Line in New York City. The trick? Less is more! "I think not overloading your hair or makeup with products is the key. If you use too much product in your hair, it will add weight, and your style will fall by the end of the day," she says. "For makeup, blotting papers are my best friend. You don't have to keep adding powder on top, and each time you blot, you'll always look fresh -- like you just did your makeup."

"Not overloading your hair or makeup with products is the key." - @mariamenounos on taking the perfect #selfie

On her days off, Menounos favors low-key styles, but always adds a current vibe by keeping up with the latest beauty trends. "I like to add a little braid or twist in the front because they're easy and they always look cute. I also like doing a beachy wave. Ponytails, for some reason, always make me feel confident because I think the style is more me," she adds. "They're fun, and they suit my personality." Chic and easy -- we love it!
