What locales were all the rage in 2013? Close to home, Brooklyn, New York continued to grow in "hipness" as many a Manhattanite has flocked to the borough. The food and parks lured us in, but the people, neighborhoods, and culture have us hooked. Now, from Boerum Hill to Bushwick, Brooklyn is way cooler than Manhattan’s FiDi, Noho, or ViVa, and boasts celebrities like Solange Knowles and Lena Dunham as residents.

Across the globe, Scandinavia is having a moment. As the birthplace of stars like Alexander Skarsgård and Malin Akerman, we love Stockholm already, but the land of blond exoticism, jazzy clubs, and daring cuisine at hot spots like Frantzén and Gastrologik also has all the allure of Paris.

Another favorite destination, Venice’s Gritti Palace in Italy, is the epitome of extravagance, and has been restored to all its former glory. Experience all the floating city has to offer in this luxe and romantic hotel. Kate Winslet, Nicole Kidman, and Woody Allen all call themselves fans, and we’d cross the ocean in a gondola for a stay in one of its suites anytime.
