Lipslut Is Donating All of Its Profits to Coronavirus Relief Efforts
Proceeds from the brand's lipsticks are going to nonprofits supporting those negatively impacted by COVID-19.
Beauty brands and retailers alike are stepping up in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. On top of temporarily closing physical stores and sharing positive messages and updates on social media, some brands like Lipslut are taking things a step further by donating profits from their sales to COVID-19 relief efforts.
"Coronavirus affects us all — whether we’re sick, staying home from work, no longer have access to childcare, or have reduced access to food," Lipslut shared in the Instagram post announcing the initiative. "This fundraiser aims to be a proactive step in supporting the organizations that work to offset some of these difficulties."
The brand isn't a stranger to participating in social justice issues — in fact, it's how they got their start. Lipslut was initially created in response to the 2016 election. Its F*ck Trump lipstick went viral in 2017, and in 2018, Lipslut raised over $100,000 for charities aiding migrant families effected by President Trump's immigration policies. And preorders of its F*ck Kavanaugh lipstick went to organizations fighting sexual assault.
In these unprecedented times, other brands and retailers are also stepping up to help stop the spread of COVID-19. LVMH — the luxury good conglomerate that owns such brands as Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, and more — is using its factories to mass produce hand sanitizer. On the other hand, Glossier and Sephora have temporarily closed their retail stores in the wake of the Coronavirus.
