On Tuesday, the 27-year-old Melbourne-born actor took to Instagram to encourage his fellow Australians to vote “yes” in favor of same-sex marriage and equality in his home country. Currently, citizens are voting on the subject before it heads to Parliament for a final decision. According to CNN, 63 percent of Australians are in favor of legalizing marriage between the same sexes. And so is Hemsworth. “I personally do not believe that same-sex marriage should come down to a vote. I believe it’s a HUMAN RIGHT to be able to marry the person you love regardless of gender,” he wrote alongside an image of Australia with the colors of the LGBTQ flag. “To all the Australians that care about equality and human rights, please say YES to same-sex marriage. Let’s not be silly about this. Vote YES for same-sex marriage in Australia.” His support of the cause comes as no surprise, considering fiancée Miley Cyrus is a huge activist for equality for all.
