Leonardo DiCaprio on His Django Unchained Character: "He's the Worst of the Worst"
Leonardo DiCaprio fans beware—in his new film Django Unchained, you’ll see a side of Leo that couldn’t be further from your memories of his kind-hearted Jack Dawson. Starring as Calvin Candie in Quentin Tarantino’s latest movie, the actor plays a villainous slave owner in possession of Broomhilda von Shaft (Kerry Washington), the wife of Django (Jaime Foxx). “This character in particular was probably the most disreputable, horrendous, narcissistic [person] I’ve read in my entire life,” DiCaprio told reporters at last night’s New York City premiere. But he went for it anyway. “When Quentin Tarantino gives you the opportunity to play somebody like that you have to take those opportunities. He really writes the best villains ever, and this guy was the worst of the worst.” So, even if you prefer Leo in more heroic roles (we'll never let go!), his latest villainous turn is still worth watching—check out Django Unchained when it opens in theaters Christmas Day.
