Laura Dern Dishes On Her Process of Choosing an Oscars Dress
On Tuesday night, Laura Dern came out to support a good cause—and do a little pre-Oscar celebrating at the same time. The actress, who is nominated for the best supporting actress trophy for her role in Wild, was at the Bulgari and Save the Children pre-Oscars launch party of their new photobook, STOP. THINK. GIVE.
So how is Dern preparing for the big night? By choosing a dress, of course. And for Dern, that means trying on gowns until she finds the one that she knows is right. "I'm very privileged to have designers consider being supportive and also knowing that you can't know until you have it on," the actress told InStyle. "And everyone is patient and kind with people wanting to be comfortable and feel like a princess and have fun with it. I'm a huge fan of these amazing artists and these designers, so I'm having a lot of fun seeing their extraordinary work."
At the Bulgari party, Dern looked radiant in an ombré Halston dress with a sheer skirt that went from black to red, which she paired with a cherry red Bulgari clutch (pictured, above). Come Sunday night, she has a few non-negotiables when it comes to her purse: "One of the first things I said to my beautiful and very supportive stylist was, 'I've got an iPhone 6. And I get cold easily. And glasses and a protein bar.'"
