The Oscars race is heating up and big winner of the 2016 Producers Guild Awards last night at Hyatt Regency in Century City, Calif. might have been The Big Short, but Lady Gaga stole the spotlight for her performance with a rousing intro speech.

Clad in a simple nude gown with black trim but dripping with Chopard diamonds, the recent Golden Globe winner performed her Oscar-nominated hit "Til It Happens to You." But before her fingers tickled the ivories, Gaga started by saying: "A big thank you to everyone who supported this song. It's not only an important issue to me, but it's an important issue to my family. When my father's sister was in college, she was sexually assaulted, and then, tormented her so emotionally that it caused the lupus that she had to get so bad, that she died."

At the time, "my father was 16. And it affected my family really tremendously my whole life," Gaga shared. "It's sort of the center piece for everything. So this song means so much to me and so much to my parents."

Speaking of Oscar noms, there was plenty of talent in the audience that had skin in the game for the big ceremony ahead. Jennifer Jason Leigh landed her first Oscar nomination this year for her work in The Hateful Eight. Clad in a perfectly fitted Roland Mouret gown, Leigh raved about the designer. "I love his dresses," she told InStyle. "I love the unfinished business up here. I love how everything he designs just somehow fits my body." As for the big Academy Awards red carpet ahead, Leigh already knows what gown she's wearing but she's not spilling. "I know but I'm not saying," the actress said. "It's still being designed."
