Almost a year after slaying the 2015 Oscars with a tear-jerking tribute to the Sound of Music, Lady Gaga made her Golden Globes debut Sunday night and, to put it simply, stole the red carpet show. The six-time Grammy Award winner, who’s nominated for her killer role in American Horror Story, took a cue from her 2015 Emmys ensemble and opted for a minimalist-inspired look that delivered a bonafide “wow” moment.

For her Old Hollywood-like get-up, Gaga rocked Brian Atwood pumps beneath a black velvet Versace number with a plunging neckline, off-the-shoulder detailing, and a floor-length train. To pair the textured number elegantly, the Applause singer rocked a platinum, windswept ‘do with expertly-styled curls that remind us of Marilyn Monroe’s beauty heyday—a look perfect for accepting a much-wanted Globe.

So does Gaga fit in amongst some of Hollywood’s most celebrated silver screen starlets? We think she hit the nail on the head.
