Kylie Jenner’s Musical Debut Is Not What You’d Expect
Loyal King Kylie followers know, thanks to Snapchat, that the 18-year-old loves to blast her favorite new jams—typically a hip-hip or R&B hit by, say, Rihanna or Tyga—while driving one of her many cars through Calabasas, Calif. And while she has a good ear for the art of music, she’s only stuck to lip-synching the chart-toppers—until now.
Rapper Lil Yachty and producer Burberry Perry dropped a song titled “Beautiful Day” and the results find Jenner lending her sweet vocals to the track. The song, which is definitely bound to stay stuck in your head all day, takes the theme song from Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood and gives it a modern, head-bopping twist.
Don’t think Jenner belts it out, though. Instead, her part, following a series of raps nearing the second half of the song, begins with her talking to “Jordyn,” presumably BFF Jordyn Woods, and expressing her nerves in the studio. “Jordyn, come on, I’ve never been on a song before!” she says, later adding a quick tune.
Listen to the full track above and prepare to welcome (what else?) a beautiful day in the neighborhood.
